Peyronie's Disease

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is Nice Approved for the treatment of Peyronie's disease, non-invasive and safe.

What is Peyronie's disease?

Peyronie's disease is a connective tissue disorder involving the growth of fibrous plaques in the soft tissue of the penis causing chronic inflammation.

Peyronie’s Disease Symptoms

Scar tissue forms in the thick sheath of tissue surrounding, causing pain that can lead to abnormal curvature, erectile dysfunction- so struggling to get or maintain a normal erection, indentation, loss of girth and shortening.

The condition may also make sexual intercourse painful and/or difficult,

A Urologist may be able to diagnose the disease. An ultrasound can provide conclusive evidence of Peyronie's disease, ruling out congenital curvature or other disorders.

The disorder is confined to the penis, although a substantial number of men with Peyronie's exhibit other connective tissue disorders in the hand - Dupurytren's contracture and feet.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a NICE-approved, non-invasive ED treatment, widely recognised for effectively addressing Peyronie’s disease. Using a specialised handpiece, ESWT delivers controlled bursts of sound waves, or ‘sonic pulses,’ directly to affected tissue from outside the body, targeting Peyronie’s disease symptoms with precision.

Extensive research underscores the safety and efficacy of shockwave therapy, showing it to significantly reduce penile pain while also helping to improve plaque and penile curvature. Early intervention with shockwave therapy can offer protective benefits, potentially slowing the progression of Peyronie's disease.

Clinical studies validate its role as a safe and promising Peyronie’s treatment. We’ve supplied some helpful articles below if you’d like to find out more.
